Makeover My Classroom Contest The Story
Office Essentials launched its first ever, statewide ‘Makeover My Classroom’ contest, in partnership with HON Furniture, with a grand prize valued at $50,000 to be awarded to one Missouri educator. Open to public, private, charter and magnet schools serving students in grades K-12, the contest provides local communities with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to design and furnish learning environments that help students, teachers and staff thrive, now and in the future.

Educators, administrators, and teachers were encouraged to enter with the option of submitting either photographs or videos with a written description of their dream classroom and details on how they envision their learning space being “made over.” Entries were then judged by their ability to express how a classroom makeover will improve the teaching experience and impact learning for students. Submissions were made through the contest website and were accepted through November 11, 2022.

“Office Essentials is dedicated to supporting local, school communities across the state of Missouri. As a HON Education Priority Dealer, we are committed to providing every school district with the classroom furniture they need to help make students successful while also creating an environment that inspires teachers,” said Anne Farrow, Manager of the Education Division at Office Essentials.

Bayless High School's ELL classroom consists mainly of refugee students, and their unique circumstances and experiences resonated deeply with our judges. In supporting this class, we recognize the importance of education, especially for those who are new to our country and city. This generous gift enables us to give back to our community, creating a safe and nurturing environment where these students can learn, grow, and thrive.
